In a large mixing bowl, add ground beef, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well using your hands.
Divide into 4 equal portions.
Shape each portion into a patty approx ½ inch thick.
Prepare a large non-stick skillet by spraying with cooking spray.
Preheat skillet by placing on stove over medium heat
Carefully place steak patties on the prepared skillet and cook approx 4 minutes. Flip and cook an additional approx 4 minutes (or until at desired doneness.
Remove steak patties from skillet and set aside.
For the Gravy
Increase the stove heat to medium/high.
Using the same skillet, add onion, mushrooms, and thyme. Saute for approx 3 minutes.
Add in the sherry and saute for 1 minute.
Stir in the gravy.
Add the steak patties back into the skillet and heat for approx 2 minutes, or until heated through.
