Weight Watchers Homemade Corn Tortillas Recipe. These tasty tortillas are perfect for your next Taco Tuesday, or when you want to have a Mexican dinner. Store-bought tortillas are convenient, they can't compare to the flavor and texture of a homemade tortilla.
¾cuphot tap water, about 130 degrees F (55 degrees C)
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, add masa harina, then sprinkle the salt on top, and add water.
Work with your hands comine until a dough forms.
Knead dough to smooth, adding more flour if too wet, or more dough if too dry.
Lay a damp towel on top of the bowl to cover the dough, and let stand for 20 minutes.
Cut a ziploc bag into 2 circles the size of the tortilla press, and put one of them on the bottom press plate.
Remove a 1 ounce piece of dough and roll into a ball.
Place the dough on the press, and place the second piece of plastic bag on top of it.
Press the dough using the tortilla press and flatten to your preferred thickness.
Remove flattened dough from press.
Place a skillet on medium or medium/high heat. Do not add any oil.
Add flattened dough to skillet, and cook approximately 30 to 45 seconds. Flip and cook the other side for approximately 1 minute. Flip again and flatten any bubbles using a spatula and cook for 30 seconds. Repeat with the other side and cook another 10 seconds.
Place tortilla in a pie plate and cover with a towel for at least 15 minutes. This will soften the tortillas.
Repeat the process for the rest of the dough.
