Place 1 cup of the beer, jalapeño pepper, garlic, five-spice powder, and salt in a zip-lock bag.
Add the chicken drumsticks to the bag.
Squeeze out the air and seal the bag.
Turn the bag to coat the chicken with the marinade.
Place the bag in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight, turning the bag occasionally.
Spray the broiler rack with nonstick spray.
Preheat the broiler.
Transfer the chicken to the broiler rack, discarding the marinade.
Broil the chicken 5 inches from the heat source, turning occasionally.
Baste the chicken with the remaining ½ cup of beer while broiling.
Continue broiling until a thermometer reads 180°F, about 20 minutes.
