Cut the bananas in half lengthwise, leaving the peels on. Set the bananas aside.
Place the chopped pecans in a small nonstick skillet.
Cook the pecans over medium heat, shaking the pan frequently, for about 4 minutes or until they smell toasted. Remove the pecans from the heat and set them aside.
Off the heat, spray an outdoor grill rack or a ridged stovetop grill pan with nonstick cooking spray.
Heat the grill or pan to medium.
Sprinkle the cut sides of the bananas with ground cinnamon.
Lightly brush the cut sides of the bananas with 1 teaspoon of maple syrup.
Place the bananas, cut sides down, on the grill or in the pan.
Cook the bananas for 2 to 3 minutes or until grill marks appear.
Turn the bananas over and cook for another 3 to 5 minutes or until they start to pull away from the peel and soften.
Transfer the bananas to a serving platter.
Brush the cut sides of the bananas with the remaining 1 teaspoon of maple syrup.
Sprinkle the bananas with the toasted pecans.
Dust with additional cinnamon if desired.
