In a large bowl, mix together cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, black pepper, ginger, cardamom, baking soda, and both types of flour. Then set this bowl aside.
In another large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the eggs and brown sugar. Do this on high speed until the mix looks light and runny.
Change the mixer speed to low and slowly add in the dry ingredients you mixed earlier. Keep mixing until everything is well combined. The dough will be quite thick.
Stir in the walnuts until they are evenly mixed into the dough.
With slightly wet hands, make small balls from the dough, about the size of small walnuts.
Place these dough balls on your prepared cookie sheets. Make sure to leave about 1 1/2 inches of space between each ball.
Bake in the oven for about 12 to 15 minutes. You'll know they're done when the tops start to turn golden.
Take the cookies out of the oven and move them to wire racks to cool down.
Once cooled, sprinkle powdered sugar over the cookies and they're ready to serve.
