Ingredient Substitutions
Ground Beef
Ground turkey can replace the 93% lean ground beef. It will have a lighter flavor but still works with the smoked paprika, chili powder, and hot honey.
Baby Spinach
Chopped romaine, mixed greens, or chopped kale can replace the baby spinach.
Corn
Frozen corn, canned corn that has been drained, or fresh corn can all be used.
Cherry Tomatoes
Grape tomatoes or chopped Roma tomatoes can replace the cherry tomatoes.
Avocado
If avocado isn’t available, leave it out or use a spoonful of plain Greek yogurt for a creamy element.
Lime Juice
Fresh lemon juice can replace the lime juice. The flavor will be slightly different, but it will still add acidity to the hot honey drizzle.
Hot Sauce
Use a mild or hotter hot sauce depending on how much heat you want.
Honey
Maple syrup can replace the honey, although the drizzle will have a different sweetness and flavor.
Baby Spinach
For a warmer bowl, shredded cabbage can also replace the spinach and hold its texture well under the beef and sweet potatoes.

Notes
Tips and Tricks
Keep the components separate for meal prep – Store the beef, sweet potatoes, vegetables, avocado, and hot honey drizzle separately when possible. This helps the vegetables stay fresh. Add avocado before serving – Cut the avocado shortly before eating to reduce browning. Adjust the heat level – Leave out the crushed red pepper flakes for less heat, or add more hot sauce if you prefer a spicier drizzle.Storing and Reheating
Store – Place the cooked ground beef and roasted sweet potatoes in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Store the fresh vegetables, avocado, and hot honey drizzle separately when possible. Store the drizzle – Refrigerate the hot honey drizzle in a covered container for up to 1 week. Stir before using. Reheat in the Microwave – Place the beef and sweet potatoes in a microwave-safe dish. Heat until warmed through, then add the spinach, corn, tomatoes, avocado, green onions, and hot honey drizzle. Reheat on Stovetop – Place the ground beef in a skillet over medium-low heat and cook until warmed through. Reheat the sweet potatoes separately for better texture.Nutrition
