- 8 ounces linguine whole wheat pasta
- 2 teaspoon olive oil
- 1 large onion finely chopped
- 1 medium carrot finely chopped

- 1 pound 96% lean ground beef
- 1 can (28oz) crushed tomatoes
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions
- In a large pot, cook the linguine according to the package directions. Reserve ½ cup of the pasta water, then drain using a colander.
- In a large nonstick skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the onion, carrot, and garlic. Cook for about 6 minutes, stirring often, until the onion is soft.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until browned.
