Sweet Potato Feta Dip is a fun change from the usual party dips, especially if you’re tired of serving the same cream cheese appetizers.
It’s creamy, a little smoky, and has that salty feta flavor that tastes so good with roasted sweet potatoes.
And yes, sweet potatoes absolutely belong in a savory dip! They’re naturally a little sweet, but the lemon juice, garlic, and feta keep this from tasting anything like dessert.
You’ll need a baking sheet to roast the sweet potatoes until they’re tender. Then use a food processor to blend everything into a smooth, creamy dip. It’s not difficult, and most of the time is spent waiting for the sweet potatoes to roast and cool.
This Mediterranean-inspired appetizer is also a nice option when you want something different for a fall party, holiday gathering, or game day spread.
Serve it with pita chips, crackers, toasted bread, or fresh vegetables. You can enjoy it right away, but it’s also good chilled, so making it ahead is totally fine.

Why You’ll Love This Sweet Potato Feta Dip
A Savory Way to Use Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes aren’t just for casseroles and roasted side dishes. They’re really good in a creamy dip, too. The smoked paprika and cumin give them a savory kick without making the dip spicy.
Creamy Without a Block of Cream Cheese
You don’t need cream cheese for this one. The roasted sweet potatoes blend nicely with Greek yogurt and feta, giving you a thick, smooth texture that’s easy to scoop.
Something Different for the Appetizer Table
If every party seems to have the same handful of dips, this is a nice change. That pretty orange color stands out, and the crumbled feta and parsley on top make it ready for serving without much effort.
Good for Making Ahead
You can prepare this dip before your guests arrive and keep it refrigerated. No last-minute baking or trying to keep a hot dip warm throughout the party.

Ingredient Substitutions
Sweet Potatoes
Butternut squash is a good alternative if you want a similar texture and slightly sweet flavor. Roast it until very tender before blending.
Plain Nonfat Greek Yogurt
Plain whole milk Greek yogurt works if you prefer a richer dip. You can also use reduced-fat Greek yogurt. Stick with plain, unsweetened varieties.
Feta Cheese
Goat cheese is a good substitute if you want something creamier and a little tangy. It won’t have quite the same salty flavor as feta, but it works nicely with roasted sweet potatoes.
Fresh Lemon Juice
Fresh lime juice can be used instead. It gives the dip a slightly different citrus flavor, but still adds the acidity needed to balance the sweet potatoes.
Smoked Paprika
Regular paprika works if you don’t have smoked paprika. The dip will have a milder flavor without that smoky note.
Fresh Parsley
Chopped fresh chives or cilantro can replace the parsley. Either one works as a garnish, depending on what you have available.

Notes
Tips and Tricks
Adjust the Thickness – If the dip is thicker than you prefer, blend in a little additional Greek yogurt until it reaches the consistency you want. Check the Salt Before Serving – Feta cheese can be quite salty, so taste the finished dip before deciding whether it needs any additional seasoning. Try It Chilled – Refrigerating the dip for an hour or two gives the flavors more time to develop. It’s delicious served cold or at room temperature. Serving Ideas – Pita chips, toasted pita wedges, cucumber slices, bell pepper strips, and crackers are all good choices for dipping.Storing
Refrigerator – Store leftover dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 days. Before Serving – Stir the dip if any liquid has separated during storage. Serve chilled, or let it sit at room temperature briefly before serving. Do not leave it unrefrigerated for more than 2 hours.Nutrition
