Weight Watchers Friendly
Apple Pie Filling gives you tender Fuji apples coated with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon, and apricot jam. It has that cozy apple pie taste without making an entire pie.
Use it as a warm topping for pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, yogurt, French toast, or ice cream. You can also spoon it into turnovers, mini pies, crepes, or parfaits. It’s handy when you want a small dessert or need a quick filling for fall baking.
The apricot jam adds a glossy finish and helps the filling hold together without covering up the apple flavor. Fuji apples stay tender while keeping some texture, so the finished filling doesn’t turn into applesauce.
Keep a batch in the refrigerator and use it throughout the week for breakfast or dessert.

Warm Apple Pie Spices
Cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon zest, and brown sugar give the apples a classic fall flavor.

Ingredient Substitutions
Fuji Apples
Use Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, Gala, or Braeburn apples. Choose an apple that holds its shape when heated.
Light Brown Sugar
Use dark brown sugar for a deeper molasses taste. Granulated sugar can also be used, but the flavor will be lighter.
Apricot Jam or Jelly
Replace it with apple jelly, peach preserves, or orange marmalade. Marmalade will add a mild citrus taste.
Ground Nutmeg
Use a small pinch of apple pie spice or leave it out.
Lemon Juice
Use bottled lemon juice if fresh lemon juice isn’t available.

Notes
Tips and Tricks
Cut the apples evenly – Keep the apple cubes close to the same size so they soften at the same rate. Choose firm apples – Firm apple varieties hold their shape better and keep the filling from becoming mushy. Adjust the texture – Cook the filling a little longer if you prefer softer apples. Keep in mind that the apples will continue to soften as they cool.Storing and Reheating
Store in the refrigerator – Allow the filling to cool, then transfer it to an airtight container. Refrigerate for up to 4 days. Reheat on the stovetop – Place the filling in a skillet over low heat. Stir occasionally until warmed through. Reheat in the microwave – Place one serving in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in short intervals, stirring between each one.Nutrition
