Tips and Tricks

Mixing the Egg Mixture

Whisk the egg whites, milk, and vanilla thoroughly to ensure an even distribution of flavors. This helps each slice of bread absorb the mixture evenly.

Soaking the Bread

Let each slice of bread soak in the egg mixture for a few seconds on each side. This ensures the bread is well-coated but not overly soggy.

Cooking Temperature

Cook the bread on medium heat. Too high of a heat can cause the outside to brown too quickly while the inside remains undercooked. Medium heat ensures a nice, even cook.

Preventing Sticking

Make sure to spray the skillet generously with the butter-flavored Pam. Reapply as needed between batches to prevent the bread from sticking.

Keeping French Toast Warm

If you’re making multiple batches, keep the cooked French toast warm by placing it on a baking sheet in a low oven (around 200°F) until all slices are ready.

Adding Cinnamon

For an even cinnamon coating, mix the cinnamon with a bit of powdered sugar and sift it over the French toast. This helps distribute the cinnamon more evenly.

Serving Ideas

Top your French toast with fresh fruit like strawberries, blueberries, or banana slices for added flavor and nutrition. A dollop of Greek yogurt can also add a creamy contrast.

Storage and Reheating

Store any leftover French toast in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days. Reheat in a toaster or on a skillet over medium heat to maintain its texture.

Customization

For a flavor twist, consider adding a dash of nutmeg or a pinch of ground cloves to the egg mixture. These spices complement the vanilla and cinnamon beautifully.

Perfect Pairings

Serve your French toast with a side of scrambled eggs or turkey sausage for a balanced breakfast. A cup of freshly brewed coffee or a glass of orange juice makes a perfect pairing.
