Tips and Tricks
Choosing the Beef
Use ground beef with a bit of fat (about 80% lean) for juicy and flavorful meatballs. Leaner beef can make the meatballs dry.
Mixing the Ingredients
When mixing the meatball ingredients, avoid overworking the mixture. Over-mixing can make the meatballs dense and tough. Mix just until combined.
Shaping Meatballs
Use a cookie scoop to ensure all meatballs are the same size. This helps them cook evenly and ensures a consistent texture.
Browning Meatballs
For extra flavor, brown the meatballs in a skillet before adding them to the slow cooker. This step adds a nice crust and enhances the overall taste of the dish.
Fresh Herbs
If you have fresh herbs like basil or oregano, add them to the sauce for extra flavor. Fresh herbs can make the sauce more aromatic and flavorful.
Spaghetti Sauce
Use a high-quality spaghetti sauce or make your own for the best flavor. The sauce is a key component of the dish, so quality matters.
Serving Suggestions
Serve the meatballs with spaghetti or your favorite pasta. You can also use the meatballs for a delicious meatball sub with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
Leftovers
Store leftover meatballs and sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. They also freeze well and can be reheated for a quick and tasty meal.
