Tips and Tricks
Choosing the Pork
For the best results, use a well-marbled pork tenderloin. The marbling will keep the meat juicy and flavorful during the slow cooking process.
Marinating
Consider marinating the pork overnight with the soy sauce, garlic, and a bit of the wine. This allows the flavors to penetrate deeper into the meat, making it even more delicious.
Browning the Pork
Before placing the pork in the slow cooker, sear it in a hot pan for a couple of minutes on each side. This adds a nice crust to the meat and enhances the overall flavor.
Deglazing the Pan
If you sear the pork, deglaze the pan with a bit of the red wine, scraping up any browned bits. Pour this mixture into the slow cooker to add an extra depth of flavor to the dish.
Adding Vegetables
For a complete meal, add some chopped vegetables like carrots, potatoes, and onions around the pork. They will cook along with the meat and soak up all the delicious juices.
Checking Doneness
Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the pork. It should reach at least 145°F (63°C) for safe consumption. This ensures the pork is cooked through but still juicy.
Sauce Thickening
If you prefer a thicker sauce, remove the pork when it’s done and set it aside. Turn the slow cooker to high and let the liquid simmer uncovered for 15-20 minutes to reduce and thicken.
Leftovers
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. The flavors will continue to meld, making the dish even tastier the next day. You can reheat it in the microwave or on the stove.
