Substitutions
If pecans aren’t your thing or you’re out, swap them with almonds or walnuts. They’ll still give that satisfying crunch.
Techniques
When you’re mixing up your brownie batter, stir it until the ingredients are just married together. This keeps the brownies nice and tender.
Bake times can vary a bit depending on your oven, so start checking for doneness a few minutes before the time’s up. You’re looking for a toothpick to come out with a few moist crumbs.
Leftovers
Brownies keep well in an airtight container. They’ll stay fresh on your counter for a couple of days, but if you pop them in the fridge, they’ll last up to a week.
For that just-baked taste, warm them up for a few seconds in the microwave before serving. They go great with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream if you’re feeling fancy.
