An easy and delicious Japanese recipe made with soy sauce, sake, sugar, garlic, ginger root, leeks, and boneless skinless chicken breast.

Weight Watchers Yakitori Chicken

Ingredients you will need:

  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ½ cup sake
  • 1 clove garlic crushed
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 piece (2 inch) fresh ginger root grated
  • 1 lbs skinless, boneless chicken breast  cubed
  • 3 leeks, white part only cut into 1/2 inch pieces

How to make Weight Watchers Yakitori Chicken:

For the Marinade:

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, add soy sauce, sake, garlic, sugar, and ginger.
  2. Using a whisk, whisk to mix well.
  3. Place chicken in marinade, flip chicken to coat all sides. Place in refrigerator for 15 minutes to marinate.

For the Chicken:

  1. Preheat oven broiler.
  2. Grease skewers
  3. Thread prepared skewers with a piece of chicken, then a leek, then chicken, repeating so each skewer has 3 pieces of chicken and 2 leeks.
  4. Place skewers on a broiling pan, or a baking sheet.
  5. Brush marinade on the chicken.
  6. Place pan in the oven and broil for 5 minutes.
  7. Remove pan from the oven and baste the chicken again.
  8. Return pan to oven and broil for 5 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
  9. Discard the marinade.
