Tips and Tricks
Mixing Ingredients
When combining honey, lemon juice, peanut butter, and powdered milk, use a rubber spatula to ensure all the ingredients are well blended. This will help create a smooth and consistent mixture.
Handling Sticky Mixture
Keep a bowl of water nearby to wet your hands frequently. This will make it easier to roll the sticky mixture into balls without it sticking to your hands.
Customizing Dried Fruit
Feel free to mix and match different dried fruits to suit your taste. Dried cranberries, apricots, or even chopped dates can be great alternatives to raisins or dried cherries.
Adding Texture
For added texture and a bit of crunch, consider adding some chopped nuts like almonds or walnuts to the mixture. This will enhance the overall flavor and give a satisfying crunch.
Evenly Sized Balls
To ensure all the balls are the same size, use a small ice cream scoop or a tablespoon to portion out the mixture before rolling them.
Storage
For best results, store the balls in a single layer in the airtight container. If you need to stack them, place a piece of wax paper between the layers to prevent them from sticking together.
Freezing for Longevity
If you want to keep the balls fresh for a longer period, you can freeze them. Just place the balls on a baking sheet lined with wax paper, freeze until solid, and then transfer to a freezer-safe bag or container. They can be stored in the freezer for up to three months.
