Tips and Tricks
Pasta
To prevent the angel hair pasta from sticking together, add a pinch of salt and a splash of olive oil to the boiling water. Stir occasionally while cooking.
Garlic
For a more robust garlic flavor, make sure the garlic is finely chopped. Be careful not to burn the garlic when sautéing, as it can turn bitter. Keep the heat at medium and stir continuously.
Olive Oil
Use high-quality extra virgin olive oil for the best flavor. It makes a significant difference in simple dishes like this one.
Mixing
When combining the pasta with the garlic and parsley mixture, do it in the skillet if there’s enough space. This allows the pasta to absorb more flavor from the oil and garlic.
Parmesan Cheese
Grate the Parmesan cheese just before serving for the freshest taste. Pre-grated cheese can be drier and less flavorful.
Serving
Serve the dish immediately while it’s hot. Freshly ground black pepper adds a nice kick, so don’t be shy with it. You can also add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a bit of heat.
Storage
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in a skillet with a splash of olive oil or a bit of water to keep the pasta from drying out.
Variations
For added protein, you can toss in some cooked shrimp or grilled chicken. For a more vegetable-rich version, add sautéed mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, or spinach to the skillet with the garlic and parsley.
