While it may sound strange, pumpkin sauce is a delicious and easy way to add some extra flavor to your favorite dishes.
This quick and easy sauce is ready in just 30 minutes. To make this recipe, you will need olive oil, shallot, butter, flour, cinnamon, cream, pumpkin puree, chicken broth, sage, and thyme.

Easy Weight Watchers Pumpkin Sauce
Equipment
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoon olive oil
- 1 shallot chopped
- 2 tablespoon butter
- 2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- salt to taste
- pinch ground cinnamon
- 1 cup light cream
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon fresh sage finely chopped
- 1½ teaspoon fresh thyme finely chopped
Instructions
- Heat a skillet at medium heat.
- Add olive oil.
- Add shallots. Stir and cook approximately 10 minutes, or until softened.
- Add butter, and melt.
- Whisk in flour until well combined.
- Add salt, and cinnamon. Whisk in light cream for approximately 2 minutes, or until well combined.
- Add pumpkin puree and ½ cup low-sodium chicken broth. Stir to mix well.
- Stir in chicken broth ¼ cup at a time until the consistency is to your liking.
- Let simmer 5 – 10 minutes, or until the sauce is at desired consistency.
- Stir in fresh sage, and fresh thyme
