Tips and Tricks
Broccoli
Cut the broccoli into even-sized florets to ensure they cook evenly. You can blanch the broccoli briefly in boiling water before sautéing if you prefer a more tender texture.
Garlic
Mince the garlic finely to ensure it distributes evenly throughout the dish, adding a consistent garlic flavor.
Chicken
Slice the chicken breasts thinly and uniformly. This helps them cook quickly and evenly.
Oil
Use extra virgin olive oil for a richer flavor. Heat it until it’s hot but not smoking to avoid burning the garlic.
Cooking Chicken
Ensure the skillet is hot before adding the chicken. This helps to sear the chicken, locking in the juices and flavor.
Dijon Mustard
Add the Dijon mustard after reducing the heat to prevent it from burning and to allow the flavors to meld with the chicken broth and soy sauce.
Mixing
Stir the mixture thoroughly to ensure the mustard is evenly distributed and the sauce coats all the ingredients.
Serving
Serve the dish immediately while hot. It pairs well with steamed rice or quinoa for a complete meal.
Storage
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave, adding a splash of chicken broth if needed to rehydrate the sauce.
Variation
Add a splash of lemon juice or a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes for a tangy or spicy kick. You can also include other vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas for added color and nutrition.
Presentation
Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro before serving for a bright and fresh finish.
