Tips and Tricks
Baking Tips
To prevent the crust from over-browning, you can cover the edges with aluminum foil halfway through baking. This ensures the crust stays perfectly golden without getting too dark.
Ingredient Substitutions
If you can’t find fresh lime juice, bottled key lime juice is a great alternative. Just make sure it’s 100% juice without any added sugars. You can also use a reduced-fat graham cracker crust for an even lighter option.
Storage Tips
Store any leftover pie in the refrigerator, covered with plastic wrap or in an airtight container. It will stay fresh for up to three days. This pie can also be frozen for longer storage. Just wrap it tightly and thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
Serving Suggestions
For an extra touch, garnish each slice with a thin lime slice or a sprinkle of lime zest along with the whipped topping. This adds a nice visual appeal and an extra hint of lime flavor.
Make Ahead
This pie can be made a day in advance, making it a convenient dessert for entertaining. Simply follow the recipe, cover the cooled pie, and refrigerate until ready to serve. This allows the flavors to meld together beautifully, enhancing the taste.
