Tips and Tricks
Ground Beef
Use lean ground beef to reduce the amount of grease. This makes the dish healthier and eliminates the need for extensive draining.
Onion
Chop the onion finely for a smoother texture. Smaller pieces will cook faster and blend better with the other ingredients.
Garlic
Mince the garlic finely to ensure it distributes evenly throughout the chili, providing a consistent flavor in every bite.
Beef Stock
Use low-sodium beef stock to control the saltiness of the chili. This allows you to adjust the seasoning to your taste.
Chili Powder
Adjust the chili powder to your preferred spice level. If you like it hotter, you can add a bit more or include a pinch of cayenne pepper.
Tomato Paste
Add a little water if the chili is too thick after adding the tomato paste. This helps achieve the desired consistency.
Chili Beans
Use spicy chili beans to add an extra kick to the dish. If you prefer a milder flavor, you can use regular chili beans.
Simmering
Let the chili simmer longer for a deeper, more developed flavor. The longer it simmers, the more the flavors meld together.
Serving
Top the chili with shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped green onions for added flavor and a nice presentation.
Storage
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. Chili often tastes even better the next day as the flavors continue to meld. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave.
