Weight Watchers Orange Sirloin Beef and Broccoli
Ingredients
- 1 pound lean trimmed sirloin beef trimmed and cut into thin strips
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 teaspoon fresh ginger root peeled and minced
- ⅛ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 teaspoon canola oil
- 5 cups broccoli florets
- 1 medium onion thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
- ¼ cup orange juice
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
Instructions
- Place the steak, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes into a large zip-close plastic bag.
- Squeeze out the air from the bag and seal it. Then, turn the bag around to make sure the beef is coated.
- Put the bag in the refrigerator and remember to turn it every now and then. Let it stay there for at least 30 minutes or even overnight if you want.
- Heat up a large deep nonstick skillet or wok on high heat until it gets really hot. You can check by dropping a small bit of water in the pan and seeing if it sizzles.
- Add the oil to the skillet and move it around so that it covers the surface.
- Put the beef into the skillet and stir it around until it turns a light brown color. This should take about 3 minutes.
- Use a slotted spoon to transfer the beef to a plate.
- Add the broccoli and onion to the skillet and stir them around until the broccoli becomes a bright green color. This usually takes about 3 minutes.
- In a small cup, mix together the orange zest, orange juice, and cornstarch until it becomes a smooth mixture.
- Pour the mixture into the skillet and stir everything together. Keep stirring until the sauce thickens and starts to bubble. This should take about 1 minute.
- Add the beef back into the skillet and stir it around until it's heated through. This takes about 2 minutes.
