Tips and Tricks
Marinating Chicken
Marinate the chicken for at least 2 hours, but no more than 4 hours. This allows the flavors to penetrate the meat without making it mushy.
Using Fresh Ingredients
Use fresh ginger, garlic, and lime juice for the marinade. Fresh ingredients provide a more vibrant and robust flavor compared to dried or bottled versions.
Zesting Lime
When zesting the lime, avoid the white pith underneath the skin. The pith can add a bitter taste to the marinade.
Broiling Chicken
Keep an eye on the chicken while broiling, as it can cook quickly and burn. Adjust the oven rack to ensure the chicken is not too close to the broiler element.
Reserving Marinade
Always set aside a portion of the marinade before adding the chicken to it. This prevents cross-contamination and ensures you have a safe sauce to brush on the chicken later.
Adding Fresh Herbs
Add fresh cilantro and scallions right before serving. This keeps them fresh and vibrant, enhancing both the flavor and presentation of the dish.
Serving Suggestions
Serve the broiled chicken with a side of steamed vegetables or a light salad. The fresh and tangy flavors of the chicken pair well with simple, fresh sides.
Leftover Storage
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently to avoid drying out the chicken.
