Tips and Tricks

Draining Spinach

Ensure the spinach is thoroughly drained to avoid excess moisture in the casserole. You can squeeze the spinach with your hands or use a clean kitchen towel to remove as much water as possible.

Salsa Choice

Use a salsa that suits your heat preference. If you like it spicy, opt for a hot salsa. For a milder flavor, use a mild or medium salsa.

Layering Evenly

Spread each layer evenly to ensure consistent flavor and texture in every bite. Use a spatula to smooth out the layers.

Cheese Melting

For a perfectly melted and golden cheese topping, you can switch the oven to broil for the last 2-3 minutes. Keep a close eye on it to prevent burning.

Additional Vegetables

Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or zucchini for extra nutrition and flavor. Dice them finely and mix them into the appropriate layers.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the casserole with a side of guacamole, sour cream, or extra salsa. A fresh green salad or a bowl of tortilla chips on the side can complement the dish well.

Storing Leftovers

Store any leftover casserole in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.

Freezing

This casserole can be frozen for up to a month. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and aluminum foil before freezing. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before reheating.

Customizing Spices

Adjust the cumin and chili powder to your taste preference. If you like it spicier, you can add more chili powder or even a pinch of cayenne pepper.

Cilantro Garnish

For the freshest flavor, chop the cilantro just before garnishing. If you’re not a fan of cilantro, you can garnish with sliced green onions or fresh parsley instead.
