Tips and Tricks
Preparing Sweet Potatoes
Soak for Crispiness
Soak the cut sweet potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch, making the fries crispier when baked.
Even Coating
Use a Large Bowl
To ensure the fries are evenly coated with oil and spices, use a large mixing bowl to toss them. This helps to distribute the seasoning more uniformly.
Baking Sheet
Avoid Overcrowding
Spread the fries in a single layer on the baking sheet, ensuring they don’t overlap. Overcrowding can cause the fries to steam rather than bake, making them less crispy.
Spice Mixture
Mix Thoroughly
When combining the spices, make sure they are mixed well. This ensures an even distribution of flavors on each fry.
Flipping Fries
Use a Spatula
When flipping the fries during baking, use a spatula to turn them gently. This prevents them from breaking and helps to achieve an even crispness on all sides.
Serving
Enhance with Lime
Serve the fries with a wedge of lime. A squeeze of fresh lime juice can enhance the flavors and add a refreshing tang to the spicy fries.
