Tips and Tricks
Even Cutting
To ensure even cooking, try to cut the sweet potato sticks as uniformly as possible. This helps all fries cook at the same rate and prevents some from burning while others are undercooked.
Crispiness
For extra crispy fries, soak the cut sweet potato sticks in cold water for at least 30 minutes before baking. This removes excess starch. After soaking, pat them completely dry with a clean towel before baking.
Seasoning Variations
Feel free to experiment with other seasonings. For a savory twist, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or smoked paprika along with the salt. For a more complex sweet flavor, try adding a dash of nutmeg or allspice to the cinnamon-sugar mix.
Prevent Sticking
If you don’t have parchment paper, lightly grease the baking sheet with cooking spray or a small amount of oil to prevent the fries from sticking.
Baking Consistency
Rotate the baking sheet halfway through baking to ensure even browning. This helps the fries cook uniformly, especially if your oven has hot spots.
Serving Suggestions
These sweet potato fries pair wonderfully with a variety of dips. Try serving them with a honey mustard dip, a maple yogurt dip, or a spicy aioli for a tasty treat.
Storage Tips
Store any leftover fries in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat them in the oven at 350°F to restore some of their crispiness.
Freezing Instructions
To freeze, arrange the uncooked, seasoned fries on a baking sheet in a single layer and freeze until solid. Transfer them to a freezer bag or container. Bake directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the cooking time.
