Tips and Tricks

Making a Smooth Cheese Sauce

To avoid lumps in your cheese sauce, make sure to whisk the flour and evaporated milk together thoroughly before adding the skim milk. Continuously stir the mixture as it heats to maintain a smooth consistency.

Adding Flavor

For a more flavorful cheese sauce, consider adding a pinch of garlic powder or onion powder along with the hot pepper sauce. This can give your sauce an extra kick without adding extra calories.

Cooking the Eggs

When cooking the eggs, use a silicone spatula to gently stir them. This helps create soft, fluffy curds. Avoid overcooking the eggs by removing them from the heat just before they are fully set, as they will continue to cook slightly after being removed from the pan.

Toasting Bread

For a perfectly toasted bread, use a toaster or toaster oven set to medium-high. If you prefer a crunchier texture, toast the bread slices a bit longer.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the egg and cheese toast with a side of fresh fruit or a light salad to make a more complete meal. You can also sprinkle a bit of fresh herbs, like chives or parsley, over the top for added flavor and presentation.
