  • In a large slow cooker, add ham, lentils, onions, carrots, celery, and minced garlic.
  • Add dried oregano, dried basil, dried thyme, black pepper, and bay leaf.
  • Add chicken broth, water, and tomato sauce.
  • Stir to mix well.
  • Cover the slow cooker and set to LOW setting for 11 hours.
  • Remove and discard bay leaf.

  1. Hi, I just found this recipe and want to try it. Does it matter what lentils you use, green or brown? I have green lentils on hand.

      Hi Sandy,
      I haven’t tried it with green lentils. It would change the taste as green lentils have a stronger, peppery flavor.
